Charcoal

Description

In 2018, Brazilian director Carolina Markowicz won multiple awards, such as the Queer Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, with her short film The Orphan. Since then, she has made two films: Charcoal and Toll, both of which are part of our program this year. Charcoal, her feature debut, is a thrilling film about a family that is struggling to make ends meet and is confronted with a difficult dilemma. Because let’s face it: has your family ever considered letting your sick grandfather die in order to make room in your home for an Argentinian drug lord who needs a hiding place?
