Description
Rehearsing for the role of maid at a local amateur theatre at night, while being an actual maid, cook and nanny for a French bourgeois family during the day. In The Dairy of a Chambermaid, you follow Gianina as she struggles through her jobs all the while having to miss her own child back home in Romania. Based on a 1900s book by the same name written by Octave Mirbeau, this film is funny, angry, sharp and tender. Radu Jude’s first French-language film had its world premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
