Description
Based on the memoir of the same name by author Lidia Yuknavitch, this film tells the story of a woman trying to escape her violent environment, and eventually finding her refuge in literature. While dealing with heavy subjects such as addiction and sexual abuse, the film powerfully fronts a woman trying to find her voice, turning her trauma into art. Kristen Stewart, known for her acting in films such as Spencer (LIFF 2021), makes her directorial debut with this outspoken and intriguing film, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
At the screening at Volkshuis on October 16, the sound will be played via head phones.
