Description
France, 1959: a young, outspoken film critic attempts to get his first feature film off the ground, which is not always easy, but will ultimately result in an undeniable masterpiece… Or in other words, an ode to French New Wave pioneer Jean-Luc Godard by Richard Linklater (Boyhood, the Before trilogy): the story of the making of Godard’s debut feature Breathless (À bout de souffle, 1960), completely in the distinctive style of Breathless. Whether you personally lean more towards Linklater or Godard simply doesn’t matter at all in this case: Nouvelle Vague is a delightful must-see for every cinephile.
Twice the fun: on October 12, we’ll screen Breathless after Nouvelle Vague as the ultimate double bill.
