Mary Anning

Description

In a time when women did not yet get the opportunities they deserved in the scientific world, Mary Anning made history as a pioneering palaeontologist and fossil collector. This moving animation shows her life when she was just 12 years old. Following her father’s mysterious final message, Mary searches the dangerous cliffs to save her family home while unravelling scientific secrets. Swiss animation talents bring her amazing story to life with picture book-esque scenes. An ode to an extraordinary woman from our history, which can be enjoyed by young and old!

This special screening of Mary Anning will be introduced by Yasmin Grooters. Yasmin was called Indiana Grooters from a young age, always on an adventure and discovering things. After seeing Jurassic Park, she knew for sure: she wanted to work with dinosaurs.
If you have ever been to the Dinolab, you will certainly know her. Like Mary Anning, she loves fossils and also digs up bones with the Naturalis team. She will talk briefly about this, and of course you can ask her anything you want to know about fossils.
