Description
Lady is one of the few female taxi drivers in the sprawling metropolis of Lagos, Nigeria. On the job she faces constant harassment, but she survives by staying tough and focused. When she reconnects with her long-lost friend Pinky, she is swept into the hypnotic nightlife of a group of charismatic sex workers. Political turmoil simmers in the background of this vibrant and bold feature debut by Olive Nwosu about sisterhood, survival, and transformation. The film was awarded the Special Jury Award for Acting Ensemble at Sundance this year. With a soundtrack ranging from Little Simz to Fela Kuti, the film sounds just as good as it looks.
