Description
This bold dark comedy from 1942 centers around an acting troupe in Nazi-occupied Warsaw. Using their acting talents and clever disguises, they undermine the occupier over and over again. To this day, director Ernst Lubitsch (The Shop around the Corner) is widely hailed for his effortless mingling of humor and drama: you won’t encounter a better mix of ridiculous comedy and grim reality anytime soon.
