Description
Under Iran’s repressive regime, an underground art scene flourishes, offering artists Hanna and Pari a sanctuary. Together, the women partake in a vibrant community full of performances, dinner parties, rehearsals and exhibitions, yet their refuge cannot last forever.
The Friends House Is Here was filmed in complete secrecy, and smuggled out of the country for its premiere at Sundance Film Festival. Despite the grim details surrounding its production, the film keeps a defiant positive tone, as it explores friendship and the ongoing struggle to remain true to oneself, as a woman and as an artist.
Directors Hossein Keshavarz and Maryam Ataei will be present for a Q&A after the screenings on October 14 and 15.
