Description
Director Paweł Pawlikowski is back at LIFF after his succes with Cold War in 2018. Now returned with the biographical drama Fatherland. In a post-World War II Germany, exiled author Thomas Mann and his daughter Erika navigate a divided, ruined nation in a black Buick. Their tense road trip from Frankfurt to Weimar forces them to confront family fractures, personal guilt, and a fractured homeland. Sandra Hüller, from LIFF 2016 selection Toni Erdmann, is a force in any film she stars in, including this one.
