Description
LIFF presents the Dutch premiere of this special Dutch debut film. In a dystopian future, Fenna has withdrawn from society and is living by herself inside a wind turbine. When a powerful storm carries her away, she is forced on a treacherous journey through a flooded Netherlands. Along the way, she is confronted by feelings she has long suppressed and begins to reconsider the difficult solitary existence she deliberately chose. The film’s striking visuals, combined with compelling performances by Hadewych Minis and Violet Braeckman, give its contemplative storytelling a powerful emotional weight. Although tears probably won’t flood your face the same way the Netherlands is flooded in this film, you’re sure to be moved by Thom Lunshof’s De eerste zone.
