In de jaren '70 en '80 was er het succes van Parker en Elmex Basketball. Duizenden mensen kwamen er destijds voor naar de Groenoordhallen. Om eredivisiebasketbal terug te brengen naar Leiden kwamen Marcel Verburg, Theo Knijnenburg en Tjeerd Scheffer met een plan. In 2006 kwam er eindelijk weer eredivisiebasketbal in Leiden. De krantenkop luidde: \"In vijf jaar Nederlands kampioen. Geen coach, geen team, geen hoofdsponsor en geen hal: maar wel eredivisiebasketbal in september.\" Documentairemaker Bas Schollaardt filmde dat vijfde jaar, het seizoen 2010-2011, alle wedstrijden van ZZ Leiden, en interviewde jaren later samen met Rolf Marselis de spelers, coach en andere betrokkenen. Bevlogen mensen met passie voor basketbal. Hoe kreeg Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden Basketball het voor elkaar om binnen vijf jaar de landstitel te pakken?
