That's not really a question, but for more information, you can always have a look at our program. It will be online on the 10th of October and you will will find a short description of all films there.

In My LIFF, you will find an overview of your purchased film tickets. You can also download your tickets and cancel Cineville reservations here.

The full program will be online on the 10th of October. However, in the busy film world, a special and unexpected premiere may just sneak in last minute. So make sure to stay informed by subscribing to our newsletter or following us on Facebook.

Online sales will start on the 14th of October for people with prepaid tickets. Regular ticket sales will start on the 15th of October. Do you prefer to buy your tickets at the box office? This is possible from the 29th of October. The festival ticket offices open 30 minutes before the start of the first film.

LIFF takes place in the city center of Leiden. Most screenings are in Trianon and Kijkhuis, but a few specials are shown in the Volkenkunde museum or in the Culthuis, among others. The location is always stated on the website as well as the movie ticket. Note: all festival ticket offices are Pin Only.

For more information, click on LIFF Online.

Watching a movie at home on the couch can become just as special with these tips & tricks!

Watch the movie on a big screen
Connect your laptop to your television or beamer. Or, if you have one, use Chromecast or AppleTV. Get your laptop charger ready, turn off the WiFi on all your other devices and turn your screen brightness up.

Make sure to have snacks and drinks
Check out DeLIFFeroo to complete your movie night with a pre-movie dinner or snacks during your film. You will receive a voucher code to watch a movie online with your order!
You can of course also make old school microwave popcorn and drink a special LIFF beer along with it.

Enjoy your home theater
Close the curtains, turn off the lights and make sure you cannot be disturbed by notifications on your phone or roommates walking into your room, just like in the cinema. Or don't - after all you should know for yourself. It's your house, do whatever you feel like doing!

Wherever you want! At home on the couch, on the bus or in the park: as long as you have a good internet connection, you can watch the online movies.

Computer
The online platform works best through Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
Also, Windows 7 - 8.1 - 10 or MAC 10.12 and later are recommended to watch the movies.

Chromecast - AppleTV
Do you have a Chromecast? Then use Google Chrome to load the movie and press the Chromecast button at the bottom right of the image. Watching the film through AppleTV is also possible. Go to your internet browser and click the AirPlay button at the bottom right of the screen.

Telefoon
For Apple phones, Safari iOS 11.2 or higher is required. In order to play the movie, you need to turn off 'Screen Mirroring'. Do you have an Android phone of 6.0 or higher? Then launch the movie in Chrome.

The quality of the online movie depends on your internet quality. If the movie crashes or does not run smoothly, here are a few tips:

  • Turn off the WiFi on all of your other devices.
  • Close all other apps or tabs in your internet browser.
  • Sit closer to your internet router for a better connection.

Accessibility

Wheelchair accessibility differs per location.

Trianon
Trianon 1 has wheelchair spaces. The entrance of the hall is slightly sloping, so it is recommended to bring somebody with you. The building has a wheelchairfriendly toilet. In Trianon 2 and 3, it is possible to create wheelchair spaces. In this case, the wheelchair is placed in front of the first row of seats in the cinema. Large mobility scooters only fit in Room 1 of Trianon.

Kijkhuis
Room 1 is accessible with a wheelchair in the Kijkhuis. To be able to enter the building, a ramp will be laid out. The toilets in the Kijkhuis are not wheelchairfriendly.

You can easily reach Leiden by train. From the central station, it is about a ten minute walk to the various festival locations, or a few minutes by bus. Do you prefer to come by car? In that case, you can park your car in one of the municipal parking locations, which are also close to the festival locations.

Going to LIFF with a large group? This is possible with a nice discount to make your group trip even more fun! Of course prepaid tickets can also be used for LIFFicionado's who want to attend lots of movies themselves! Catering partners

For years, they have been helping to make our film festival into a success. And now it's our turn to do something in return! The consequences of the coronavirus affect all of us, but local businesses like local cafés and restaurants in Leiden are being hit especially hard. However, in times like these, different initiatives and actions arise to help each other to get through this time. Several of our partners have also started such initiatives. We are very happy with that.

Would you like to support LIFF's local partners too? On this page, you can find several actions and initiatives through which you can support our partners.

Grabbing a bite to eat before your film, or having a drink afterwards - go to LIFF's local partners! Go to this page for a selection of the best restaurants and cafés in Leiden.

Covid-19

Leiden International Film Festival is doing everything it can to prevent the spread of corona during the festival. There are set walking directions on location, disinfecting handsanitizer is available and everyone has an indicated seat in the cinemas. It is also possible to watch LIFF films online this year! In this way, you can still enjoy the LIFF program without leaving your own livingroom.

Below, you can find a list of the measures in the cinemas:

  • Pin Only
  • Set walking directions
  • Disinfecting handsanitizer
  • Indicated seats in the cinemas, maintaining 1,5 meters distance

The bar is open in all cinemas, so you do not have to sit through a movie without a drink and some popcorn! Pay with PIN and please follow the indicated walking directions.

Feel like having a chat afterwards? Please do so at one of our LIFF partners! Unfortunately is not possible to hang around in the cinema.

The most corona-proof way to enjoy LIFF: the online film program! Click on 'online' in the film overview, select a film and watch it online! For more information about watching online movies, see the FAQ Online movies.

Would you like to watch your movie in the cinema? That is also possible!

Buy your tickets online as much as possible, payment is pin-only. Always stick to the instructions and measures in the cinema. The indicated walking direction and the assigned seats both ensure that groups can maintain 1.5 meters distance. Disinfect your hands upon arrival and do not come if you have symptoms.

Before the movie
Upon entering the cinema you disinfect your hands and your ticket will be scanned. Then follow the walking direction to the cinema where your movie will be screened. This is also the moment to use the toilets and to get something to drink or snack at the bar. Pay with pin as much as possible and please take the walking directions in consideration.

In the cinema
Our volunteers will guide you to your seat. If you attend LIFF with one other person, you will automatically be seated next to each other. If you are joined by more than two people, we will do our best to place you next to each other, but we cannot guarantee this. So be on time and enter the cinema together if you are accompanied by more than two people.

After the movie
When the movie is over, the emergency exit doors open. We kindly ask you to exit through there, so we can maintain enough room in the foyer for visitors for the next film.
