Divided into three chapters, Monstri tells the story of a married couple by following them for 24 hours. She has a conversation with a young taxi driver, he has a disappointing one-night stand with a married man. They reunite the following morning, but can they stay together for much longer? Monstri is a formally interesting film with strikingly subtle performances from both leads. The layered story is both a personal tale about a complex relationship and a critical look at the expectations placed on people within contemporary Romanian society.
