Thursday 7 November

20:30 - 22:15 Wibar

Kamer 306 recounts a forgotten chapter in music history. In the 1950’s, groundbreaking research into electronic musical instruments, speaker and microphone design, and synthetic sound at the Philips Physics Laboratory layed the foundation for electronic music ever since. An introduction will be given by Johan van Kreij, musician, composer and teacher at the Royal Conservatory. Afterwards, musician and composer Thomas Ankersmit will perform his homage to this pioneering work. In the past, he has performed his experimental electronic compositions at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Tate Modern in London and the MoMA, New York.
